Common moving questions.

We have moved thousands of families during our 40 years in the moving industry. Our family and employees are members of the local community and yet we have the support of United Van Lines, the largest and most reputable national moving company. Our commitment to you is caring for every aspect of your move with excellence in customer service.

Certainly, we will be glad to answer any general questions you have right now. If you are moving soon, we suggest our move specialist come to your home and provide a free estimate while answering any questions specific to your move.

This depends on when you are moving and where you are moving to. Generally, a 1-2 week notice is sufficient. Summer months tend to be slightly longer as this is the busiest time of the year for the moving industry.

While this is short notice, we are glad to check availability with our operations department. We may have to arrange for a local crew to pack and load your belongings and bring them to our warehouse for loading on our interstate truck.

Very soon. How soon are you moving? We can check the move specialist’s calendar while you are the phone. Please give us a call. We will make every effort to provide a time convenient and responsive to your needs. If required, we can schedule planning meetings with you in the evenings or Saturday. What works best for you?

Federal Regulations do require an in-home survey. Even without this regulation, we have always preferred a survey. While we have moved thousands of families over the years, we know there are a lot of similarities with all moves. We also know that no two moves are exactly alike. In order to give you as accurate an estimate as possible and provide you with answers to your specific needs, we would have to personally see what is moving and more importantly listen to what your needs are.

We do offer binding and non-binding estimates. A binding estimate specifies in advance the precise cost of the move. Binding estimates include all transportation, packing, and valuation costs. While most interstate estimates are binding, there may be some circumstances such as crowded storage units or sheds that are difficult to estimate the content weight and may require a non-binding estimate.

Normally the move specialist will be able to print your estimate in your home during their visit with you.

The transit time for your household goods depend on several factors including weight, date of move, the distance of the move, and the time of year. The average transit time is usually 5-10 days.

We provide a minimum of 60 cents per pound per article valuation that covers damages to your items while in our care. We do offer optional increased valuation protection. Our move specialist will be glad to cover this and the difference between valuation and insurance when they present your estimate or meet with you to start your move planning process.

Your move specialist will be happy to answer that during their visit. In fact, they will be able to quote you on different packing options and you will be able to choose what is best for you.
